The memoir of community volunteer and philanthropist, Dr. Annie Siu, beginning with her father’s move to America and her own struggles growing up in San Francisco Chinatown during the 1930s and 1940s. She became the first Chinese woman to be admitted to the UC San Francisco dental school and the only woman in her dental school class. Dr. Siu eventually moved to Alhambra where she began her professional career and family.
